In 1998, I (Val) wrote and uploaded a website on sprouting. At the time I was in Brooklyn, NY. I love writing. My first job when I graduated from university in 1969 was news-reporter on the Cape Times in South Africa. When I left the paper, I swore I’d never write again until I could write to change people’s consciousness.
In late 1999 I traveled to Albuquerque and there met a Ph.D. physicist, TD Raymond, who showed me how to build an Automatic Sprouter with off-the-shelf parts. I then wrote and uploaded the Plans to build this Sprouter.
By end-2000 I was back in England and so many readers were needing a ready-built Sprouter that I begged in my newsletter for someone to come forward and help. Dan Schaefer responded. Dan and I share a lifetime commitment to living foods, hydroponics and of course, our Sprouter.
Dan is a pastor in Michigan. One of our goals is to provide work to people in his rural ministry, building Sprouters and shipping products for a rawfood life. He first found my website in early 2000, after a fast of 30 days on water and 10 more days of juices. Dan writes:
“Fasting and prayer are strong tools for spiritual as well as physical breakthroughs … These tools are relatively unused today because most people don’t want to give up their food even for a short time … I’m convinced that raw food will give almost miraculous results. I’m also convinced that God Himself can do the impossible.”
Our business is growing steadily as the Internet grows and as more people realize their food choices affect their health and the health of our planet. Both Dan and I use our income for non-profit work.
